Port Allen High School (Port Allen, LA) wide receiver Jarius Wright has committed to play in the 2023 Gridiron Football All-American Bowl Game, which will be played on Saturday, December 30th at Memorial Stadium in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
The 5’9, 165 pound speedster was an offensive mismatch for anybody that was facing the Pelicans this past season. Whether it was lining up at wide receiver or running back, Wright had the game changing ability to take a single handoff or short pass to the distance. This past season, the Pelicans’ two time 2nd Team All-District selection had 57 carries for 454 yards and eight touchdowns as a rusher while having 27 catches for 429 yards and eight touchdowns as a receiver to account for 883 total yards and 16 total touchdowns.
Wright has impressive top end speed, but he could line up in the slot or on the outside showing his range in the route tree. His athleticism also translates to the basketball court as he is also a very talented basketball player. He models his game after former LSU and current Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase. Right now, Wright’s X factor abilities have impressed a lot of coaches including Grambling, which has offered him to play at the next level. He would get one more opportunity to represent the Westside of the Mississippi River as he will play in the Gridiron Football All-American Bowl Game this Saturday.
“It means a lot to me. I get to go and compete with other good people and make myself and those people better.”Port Allen High School (Port Allen, LA) 2024 WR Jarius Wright
