BREAKING NEWS: Southern Lab School (Baton Rouge, La.) ATH Douglas Thornton commits to 2023 Gridiron Football All-American Bowl

Southern Lab School (Baton Rouge, La.) running back/wide receiver Douglas Thornton has committed to play in the fifth annual Gridiron Football All-American Bowl.

In his career, Douglas had over 3,500 rushing yds, 700 receiving yards, 35 rushing touchdowns and six receiving touchdowns. He is also a two-time state champion, first team All-District running back and athlete, 1st team All-Metro running back and was an All-State honorable mention.

“To me it would mean just as much as the two championship games I was apart of. It’s another opportunity to show college coaches and recruits what I have worked for for the past decade of my life.”

Thornton has an offer from Louisiana Christian and has gotten interest from Southern University and the University of North Texas.

An NFL player Thornton models himself after is NFL running back Deuce Vaughn.

“We are the same height and size with the same play style that inspires and sheds some light on the smaller guys with fewer opportunities because of it.

Thornton would like to specialize in automotive engineering after his academic and athletic endeavors are over.
