School Spotlight: Diboll High School (Diboll, Texas)

Diboll High School-located in Diboll, Texas- plays in the 3A classification of Texas High School Football. They are ranked as the #333 team in the state of Texas and ranked as the #24 team in their classification of 3A Texas High School Football. The Lumberjacks, whose colors are white and red, had a great year going 8-4 and winning their district before falling to a good Columbus team. Diboll, which is where former Super Bowl champion tight end Jermichael Finley, has had a lot of success the past couple of years making it deep in the playoffs and winning district a couple of years. This week, I had the pleasure of talking with Coach Blake Morrison to discuss the vision of this program, the future of this program, and what he teaches his players.

Going over the history of this program with Coach Morrison, they had success the past couple of years in making the playoffs. They have been outright district champions 2 of the past 4 years, and the other 2 years, they have been co-champions of the district. These teams have tons of experience, and they continuously set the bar each and every year. It is not a shock, according to Coach Morrison, that they have success since these players put in the work. They get the ball rolling, and they attack their offseason workouts every year in order for them to be the best.

Talking to Coach Morrison, I asked him what his vision is for this program. The ultimate goal is to always be state champions and deep playoffs run. Asking Coach Morrison how they can achieve this goal, they start from scratch every year, work hard and get themselves prepared. In order to be the best program in the county, they decide to stay successful along with staying competing in all aspects of life. Competing in the classroom along with on the football field helps the Diboll Lumberjacks stay successful each and every year.

Discussing the future of the Lumberjacks with Coach Morrison, his ultimate goal is to always stay competitive. Diboll is not the biggest city in the state so they need to look at what’s in the cupboard, and to fix some things we couldn’t do. The future of Diboll is looking strong, as their 3 year outlook has some hard-working kids coming up, and they are going to stay successful for the future.
