After a productive first four camps of the 2026 Gridiron Football Elite Camp Series, the action continued to pick up in the month of April as we hosted a camp at Rosepine High School. Here is a brief recap of the top numbers and performances from the camp. If you want to read about our camps in February and March, click the links below!
Rosepine Camp:
The fifth Gridiron Football Elite Camp of the offseason was a special one as it was held at Rosepine High School, which is the alma mater of Gridiron Football CEO Andy Bryson. With many friends and family in attendance, they got to see the impact that Gridiron Football has up close and personal.
It was a great turnout as it was the biggest camp to this point of the offseason with nearly 50 players in attendance. The talent was real as well with many representatives from Rosepine, Leesville, DeRidder, East Beauregard, Vinton, Merryville, and Pickering to name a few.
As always, Andy gives the campers advice on what to expect in the recruiting process and how they can be proactive getting involved. The camp also got a special guest from Rosepine senior offensive lineman and LCU signee Theodore Wogomon, who talked about his experience at the Gridiron Football camps along with the Gridiron Football All-American Bowl Game.
Then, the players run the combine drills that are used at college camps and even the NFL combine including the 40, shuttle, and broad jump. For the 40, the fastest 40 times belonged to two Leesville Wampus Cats with 2029 WR Jaylen James running a 4.64 and 2028 WR/DB Julius Brown running a 4.69. In the shuttle, Welsh 2027 WR and Gridiron Football All-American Jordan Strong once again had the quickest time with a 4.18. Strong currently leads the camp series with the quickest shuttle time at the St. Louis camp with a 3.98 time. Seven players jumped over nine feet in the broad jump with the longest going to Julius Brown with a 9’7 jump.
After learning from the coaches at the camp, it was time to put that knowledge to use during competition. Leesville 2027 QB Trel Broom showed tremendous touch on the deep ball several times during 1v1 competition. He completed a beautiful deep touchdown to his teammate Julius Brown, but at the same time, he connected with Welsh 2029 WR Bryson Prudhomme and Rosepine 2028 WR/CB Jae’don Sandeval for touchdowns as well. There is an old saying that says “Iron Sharpens Iron” and that is exactly what Jordan Strong and Julius Brown were doing. Strong, who has been one of our most impressive overall camp performers and a Gridiron Football All-American Bowl Game commit, was going up against one of the top 2028 prospects in the state in Julius Brown, who has already received a DI offer from the University of Memphis. Those battles were very entertaining. Rosepine 2027 WR Brynnum Chaney and Vinton 2027 ATH Michael Lange also won a lot of their battles and made plays by beating the defenders and high pointing the football.
During 7v7 action, Trel Broom carried off the momentum he showed during 1v1 play and immediately threw a touchdown on the first play finding Jordan Strong in the end zone. Defensively, Julius Brown was all over the field as a ball magnet knocking down passes. Meanwhile, Michael Lange got himself open on multiple occasions on underneath routes.
While the skill players got some work in so did the linemen. Both offensive and defensive linemen worked on 1v1 drills as well as 2v1 drills during the camp. At the end of the camp, the coaches decided which 2027 prospects should get invited to play in the 2026 Gridiron Football All-American Bowl Game and which underclassmen should get Top Camp Performer awards.
There were six more 2027 prospects that got invited to play in the prestigious All-American Bowl Game including Rosepine OL Tug Haymon, Vinton LB Kortlin Kyle, Rosepine WR Brynnum Chaney, Leesville LB Maysn Williams, Vinton ATH Michael Lange, and Leesville QB Trel Broom.
Earning Top Camp Performer awards were Sacred Heart 2028 OL Liam Vidrine, Welsh 2029 WR Bryson Prudhomme, Rosepine 2029 OL/DL Jayden Grubbs, Leesville 2030 DB Ashton Hackett, and Leesville 2028 WR/DB Julius Brown.
Special thanks to Rosepine head coach David Weldon for the hospitality and allowing us to use his facility. Also, thanks to Coach Weldon’s wife Nikki Weldon and Benoit Motors for sponsoring the camp and providing waters and gatorades for the athletes, and finally, Coach James Shiver, Coach Johnathan Collins, and Coach Earl Westbrooks for helping with the camp and coaching the athletes.
It was a great camp at Rosepine and certainly a spot that we are looking forward to coming back for next offseason.
Albany Camp:
