For the second time ever in the upcoming 2023 Gridiron Football All-American Bowl Game that will be played at Memorial Stadium in Baton Rouge, Louisiana on Saturday, December 30th, there will be a player from Canada that will be making history and coming over to the United States to play his final high school football game.
Joining LB Owen Lock from Huron Heights High School will be Blessed Trinity (Grimsby, Ontario, Canada) wide receiver Jayden Gurzi-MacDonald. The 5’11, 170 pound Canadian native is an all-purpose do everything player that has the versatility to play either running back or wide receiver. In six games played, MacDonald has put up some impressive numbers as has accounted for 1,023 all-purpose yards and 12 touchdowns plus four two point conversions.
MacDonald has some nice shiftiness that allows him to hit another gear pretty quickly when he is going North-South and his ability to either get handoffs or catch the ball out of the backfield make a dual threat. With his quickness, soft hands, patience, and explosiveness, there is no wonder why he models his game after Christian McCaffrey.
Gurzi-MacDonald has proven to be one of the best players in Canada as he is a part of the 18U Canada National Team in which he was also once teammates with Owen Lock, who is also playing in the upcoming Gridiron Football All-American Bowl Game. Having the opportunity to go all the way down to Louisiana and being able to showcase his talents against some of the best talent there is to play will be an exciting moment for him.
“It is a great honor and privilege to be playing in the bowl game. I really appreciate the opportunity, especially considering I am a Canadian kid. I am really excited to compete on the other side of the border.”
Blessed Trinity High School (Grimsby, Ontario, Canada) WR Jayden Gurzi-MacDonald
It is going to be a cool moment this week as he will also be joined by some family as interestingly enough, his cousin Carson Gurzi will be one of the quarterbacks in the 2023 Gridiron Football Junior High All-American Bowl Game.
Jayden Gurzi-MacDonald will look to add to his list of offers as he has been currently offered by Queens University and McMaster University. He has also been receiving interest from the University of New Hampshire and over 10 Canadian colleges.
