BREAKING NEWS: Northwest High School (Opelousas, LA) DE/OLB Mackenzie Ardoin Commits To The Gridiron Football All-American Bowl Game

Northwest High School (Opelousas, LA) defensive end/outside linebacker Mackenzie Ardoin has committed to play in the 2023 Gridiron Football All-American Bowl Game. At 6’4, 210 pounds with 4.56/40 speed, this Northwest Raider is an athletic specimen off the edge and is a matchup nightmare for any offensive tackle that has to go up against him because of his length, frame, and quickness off the edge. Not to mention he is a multi-sport athlete that excels as a basketball player and throwing the javelin.

Ardoin is one of many big time defensive linemen that will be playing in the Gridiron Football All-American Bowl Game and has really flown under the radar as one of the best pass rushers in Louisiana. The multi-year starter from Northwest also has the versatility to line up either off the edge or drop back in coverage and play as an outside linebacker.

“I would say I model myself after a lot of Chase Young and Myles Garrett in just playing with that intensity and playful decisiveness.”

The talented defensive lineman has been very productive over his high school career as he has made an All-District team every year of his prep career. This year will certainly be a special one for Ardoin as he not only made 1st Team All-State his senior year, but he helped the Raiders make history by reaching the semifinals for the first time in program history.

His on the field production, upside, and 4.0 GPA in the classroom have a lot of college coaches salivating. Currently, he has received offers from Navy, Southeastern, Centenary, and Culver Stockton.

Ardoin is excited to be showcasing his skills one more time representing the silver and black, but playing in the 2023 Gridiron Football All-American Bowl Game is something that he has been really wanting to do after seeing his former teammate play in the game last year.

“It means a lot seeing my former teammate Wesley Moore play last year was something special and him wanting me to play with him last year, but me not making it and getting invited to play this year, it’s truly something special that I look forward to.”

When he is not busy sacking quarterbacks, he likes to make music and play video games. After Mackenzie Ardoin’s playing days are over, he would like to help out kids and put them in the best position to succeed.
