One of the most versatile all-purpose backs in the state of Louisiana has committed to play in the 2023 Gridiron Football All-American Bowl Game in Pine High School (Franklinton, LA) running back James Owens. The 5’10, 155 pound back was one of the top contributors for one of the Raiders’ best seasons in recent memory as he led the Raiders to a 10 win season and a Quarterfinals appearance. After accounting for close to 900 yards and seven total touchdowns as a junior, Owens had to best season of his prep career as a senior. Leading the Raiders, Owens posted some impressive numbers including accounting for 1,665 all-purpose yards (1,013 yards rushing and 652 receiving) and 25 total touchdowns along the way. He was also named 1st Team All-District at the running back position to add to his other big accomplishments throughout his career, which include being honorable mention for 1st Team All-District as a sophomore, and Team Offensive MVP as well as 2nd Team All-District Offensive Flex as a junior.
Owens is another talented running back that has plenty of skills as he can not only beat you as a runner on the inside, on the outside, but also as a wide receiver. He is a matchup nightmare as his ability to beat you as a runner and as a receiver is an ultimate weapon for an offense. He even compares his game to a wide receiver in Julian Edelman as he wants to line up at different spots and wants to be used all over the field.
Owens had a great precursor to his outstanding and eye popping senior season with a great offseason campaign, which includes a big showing at our Gridiron Football Elite Camp Series where he had the best long jump of the spring camp series with a 10’2″. That performance gave him an offer to play in the 2023 Gridiron Football All-American Bowl Game, which will be played at Memorial Stadium in Baton Rouge, Louisiana on Saturday, December 30th.

Pine High School 2024 RB James Owens
After having a great prep career at Pine High School, he is looking to represent the Raiders one final time before he plays college football as he has received two offers from Culver-Stockton College and Clarke University. He has also received interest from Southeastern, Louisiana Christian, and Arizona Christian. Off the field, Owens has plenty of more talents that he likes to showcase as he has been playing the drums for lots of churches since he was two years old. When his football career does come to an end, he would like to be a physical trainer and help others get better and be ready to play at the next level.
