From the state of Oklahoma, East Central High School tight end Donavon Jackson has committed to play in the 2024 Gridiron Football All-American Bowl Game.
The 6’3, 205 pound target is what a lot of people are looking for now a days as a big wide receiver/tight end hybrid. All Jackson did this year for the Cardinals was just make big plays as their top receiving target.
This past season, Jackson was named the District 3-5A Offensive Player of the Year with 71 catches for 1,278 yards and 11 touchdowns. With his size and frame, it made things obviously difficult for opposing defenses to account for him, but at the same time, he also possesses the speed and agility to make plays after the catch with the ball in his hands.
He showcased that multiple times this year as a multi-time Gridiron Football Player of the Week finalist. In Week 9, Jackson had 8 catches for 186 yards and 3 TDs on offense to go with an interception in a 66-14 win over Edison. The next week, he followed that up with another appearance on the Gridiron Football Player of the Week list with 14 catches for 181 yards and 2 TDs, 6 carries for 41 yards and another TD while having an interception on defense in a 28-25 overtime win over Coweta.
With a 3.0 GPA, the Tulsa, Oklahoma native has one offer from Papago Junior College in Arizona, but he is looking to show what kind of player he really is when he comes down to Baton Rouge, Louisiana for the 2024 Gridiron Football All-American Bowl Game, which will be played on Monday, December 30th at Memorial Stadium.
“It’s always been a dream as a kid to be an All-American and to be playing in the game is really unreal to me. I want to accomplish more looks from college coaches when playing in the game.”
