Gulf Breeze TE Parker Mays has committed to the Gridiron Football All-American Bowl Game, a valuable weapon for any offense to utilize.
Standing at 6’2″ 210 lbs, Mays is a TE who lines up off the line of scrimmage and works as your prototypical blocking TE. He is willing to do the dirty work, blocking both in the run and pass game, patiently waiting for his opportunity to catch the ball. He is pretty ferocious in the blocking game, willing to stick his face in the fan and put himself in front of anybody who tries to tackle the ball carrier. Despite not being huge for a TE, his sound technique and solid strength allows him to absorb contact well and stay on his feet to maintain his block for a longer period of time.
What makes Parker really scary is his well rounded-ness as a TE. He is a great blocker, but he can also be quite deadly as a pass catcher. He runs solid routes, has consistent hands, and he can make a guy miss after the catch. He functioned both as the safety valve guy and the “move the sticks” option for his team, averaging over 8 yards a catch.
Parker is not just a well rounded player on the field, he’s well rounded as a person too. Parker enjoys fishing and hunting, as well as playing pickup basketball. Most interesting, however, is his propensity for singing, as he just enjoys singing in any situation. Once we get to the bowl game though, his tune is quite clear: he is a man on a mission with one specific purpose.
