Today’s rising star feature is on Barton Middle School (TX) 2030 ATH Elijah Eller. At 5’4, 110 pounds, Eller is just really getting into his own as a multi-position athlete. Just making the transition from middle school to high school, Eller has already showed the unselfishness and work ethic to try multiple positions while not sticking with one position. So far, he has played running back, wide receiver, and safety. Eller has shown potential on both ends of the field as he has scored four touchdowns at running back in a scrimmage and he also posted five interceptions on defense during 7v7 competition. After playing majority defense last season posting 20 tackles as a safety, Elijah Eller is ready to make his mark when he gets to Jack C. Hays High School in Buda, Texas this fall.

What positions do you play?

“I play multiple positions. I play running back, wide receiver, and safety.”

As a multi-position athlete, you play both sides of the football. What side of the football do you rather play the most?

“I like to play offense more. Like being able to catch the ball out of the backfield and using contact to your advantage. I always liked contact as a running back and when I play wide receiver. I like to embrace the contact instead of running away from it.”

Who are some NFL players that you model your game after?

“At wide receiver, I really like Justin Jefferson and at running back, I like Ashton Jeanty and how he stands up in the backfield. I also like Derrick Henry with the Baltimore Ravens and how physical he is as a runner.”

Besides football, what other sports do you participate in?

“I run track. I run the 4×1 and the 100 meters. I also play basketball where I play point guard and shooting guard.”

How do those sports help you with football?

“Those sports help me stay conditioned, disciplined, and in shape.”

What is your favorite NFL team?

“Buffalo Bills.”

What is your favorite college team?

“My favorite college team is Michigan. It is a great program and a hard school to get into.”

What do you like to do when you are not playing sports?

I like to work out, hang out with my friends, and I help work with my grandpa at his mechanic shop.”

What are the biggest strengths to your game?

“I am disciplined and I work as hard as I can. No matter what, I am never going to give up and I am going to keep showing up.”

What do you need to improve on the most as you approach high school?

“I’m fast, but I am working on getting my knees higher when I run and getting to move my feet quicker.”

Who are people that you want to thank for putting you in the position that you are in today?

“I want to thank my mom, dad, and God.”

Why should Hays High School be excited for you to play for their school?

“They should be excited because they will be getting the best player they can ask for.”
