Diamond In The Rough: Travis “Milly” Walker Jr

Travis “Milly” Walker Jr is a 6’2” 1756 lbs. senior defensive back out of Landry-Walker High School in New Orleans, Louisiana. With his impressive size, he’s able to cover large areas of the field along with being able to cover even the tallest of receivers. Walker has the speed and also ability to close on receivers quickly. With a stat line in 2019 of 43 tackles, 27 of those being solo, and having 5 interceptions along with forcing 4 fumbles Travis is a true presence on the field.  

When did you begin playing football? What made you want to play?

When I first started playing football was when I was four years old. My grandma had me started out playing flag football, and after starting football I never looked back.

What hobbies do you have outside of sports?

I play shooting guard in basketball in my free time, I also run track

How does football identify with your life what does it mean to you?

It means everything to me, my whole family is full of football players, and I cannot wait to be able to share my story as they have to me. 

What was the best moment you had on the field last year?

I think about our last game, it was a playoff game that’s what I think about it. 

What would you bring to a college program?

Hard worker, who is a good role model both on and off the field. I would also say that I have a high football IQ. 

As a player, what are areas you could improve on?

My speed, in particular my acceleration off the line, but at the same time also increasing my body weight.

How has the lockdown affected your training?

It has not affected it at all, I still train every day and workout every day.

What motivates you to keep playing football? How do you motivate yourself on

gameday?

I do it for my grandma, I know that she would be in the stands yelling for me and wants to see me at the next level.

How would your teammates and coaches describe you?

I would focus with playing music and getting hyped up for the game.
