Delhi High School (Delhi, LA) DB Jay Wright has committed to the Gridiron Football All-American Bowl Game. He’s a do-it-all playmaker who can play any skill position on either side of the field, but he’ll be bolstering the secondary in our bowl game on the 30th.

Jay Wright is a shifty playmaker with the ball in his hands, explosive and tough to catch. He’s small in stature – 5’8″ 150 lbs – but he’s so quick on his feet that he can get by just about anybody. On offense, he compiled a solid all-around statline: 324 passing yards and 3 TDs, 836 rushing yards and 11 TDs, and 372 receiving yards and 2 TDs. He really can do everything on that side of the ball, as well as be quite electric on kick and punt returns.

As good as he is on that side of the ball, all of those skills contribute to him being a great defensive back. His shiftiness contributes to hip fluidity, and that combined with his great speed allow him to stick to any receiver he tries to cover. He’s also shown himself to be a great tackler in the open field, great and pursuit and able to get to the ball carrier in a moment’s notice. He can finish the job once he gets there too despite his size.

As of now, Wright’s only offer is from Millsaps, but he’ll be looking for more opportunities once he gets to the bowl game!

I’m excited to have the opportunity to play with players I’ve never played with or against! I just want to go out and show the coaches, players, and scouts that I can compete at a very high level! I would like to get more offers and play my best game!
