The second player from Episcopal High School in Baton Rouge, Louisiana has committed to play in the 2024 Gridiron Football All-American Bowl Game. That player is senior defensive back Nathan Sanchez, who joins his teammate Reid Chauvin in this year’s bowl game.
Sanchez has been a veteran leader for one of the consistent programs in the Baton Rouge area. As a four year letterman, the 5’9, 160 pound athlete is also a team captain and has thrived for the Knights wherever they need him.
The past couple of seasons, he has been one of the team’s best defensive backs even making 2nd Team All-District as a junior in 2023, but with the graduation of Gridiron Football All-American running back Braeden George, head coach Travis Bourgeois needed him to complement Chauvin in the backfield as the starting wingback.
Despite being a first year starter on offense, Sanchez has thrived by rushing for 408 yards and seven touchdowns while also leading the team in receiving with 14 grabs for 195 yards and one touchdown. His electric speed also got him a kickoff return for a touchdown this season as well.
Sanchez’s speed and versatility along with a 3.4 GPA have helped him gain offers from Rhodes College, Hendrix College, and East Texas Baptist University.
At the end of the season, Nathan Sanchez will get one more opportunity to play another high school game when he plays at Memorial Stadium on Monday, December 30th at the 2024 Gridiron Football All-American Bowl Game.
“I am stoked for the opportunity to play in such a big game and most excited for the atmosphere. I’m ready to play with all the other players that I’ve played against and getting to compete with them instead of against. I want to come out and get our team the win on one of the biggest stages in Louisiana.”
