DeRidder High School WR Uriah Wade has officially committed to the Gridiron Football All-American Bowl game. He adds an elite ability to generate an explosive play to whichever team he gets drafted to. Wade is an absolute YAC monster, with a combination of acceleration and quick feet that makes him nearly impossible to bring down in the open field. He doesn’t even need the open field, he could make you miss in a phone booth.

Given all of that YAC ability, it’s unsurprising to find out that many of his most impressive plays this year came from screen passes. As targets for screen passes go, he’s about as scary as it gets. However, he has other tools in the toolbox too. He’s a 3-sport athlete, as he also plays basketball and track, and the skills from both of those sports show themselves whenever a deep ball is thrown to him. His ball tracking ability on the deep pass is really impressive, and his top line speed is very good too (4.51 40 yard dash).

All of that makes his final stats for the season make a lot of sense. He was a 1,000 yard receiver on the year, a club that is fairly exclusive. He finished the season with 40 receptions, 1,011 yards, and 11 TDs as well as 1st team all district honors. He already has an offer for McPherson, but we’ll see what else he has by the time the game is done.

It’s a blessing to be a part of something that not a lot of kids can do. I plan on showing my skills to college coaches to play at the next level.
