Pine High School WR Demil “DJ” Garrett has officially committed to the Gridiron Football All-American Bowl Game after a dominant senior season where he dominated both at WR and at DB. Garrett finished the season with 73 catches for 1,148 yards and 9 touchdowns on offense as well as 11 Interceptions on defense. He earned first team all-district honors both at WR and DB, and he won Gridiron Football Player of the Week in Week 12 this season for his performance against Kaplan in round 2 of the playoffs.

He was unstoppable in that game, and that’s how he’s looked all season. His game is simple: he’s just bigger, faster, and stronger than you. He’s 6’3″ and 178 pounds, and he plays even bigger than that. He feasts on contested catches and YAC opportunities. His highlights are a thing of beauty, either bullying the poor defender into bringing down the ball, or making the people trying to tackle him in the open field look like children chasing down a grown man. He also plays baseball and basketball, and the basketball background in particular shows up often in his football tape. Dude is a freak of nature, and he exerts his will on the football field every chance he gets. His only offer so far is from Louisiana Christian, but he will be looking for many more opportunities from the bowl game.

I’m happy I get another game before I go off to college. I just hope to accomplish the win first, have fun, and play my heart out. God will do the rest.
