The Cecilia Bulldogs have been on an incredible run when advancing to their second straight state championship game as a #18 seed in the LHSAA Football Playoffs. A big reason for their success has been because of Gridiron Football All-American Bowl Game commit Ellis Stewart.
Stewart is the Bulldogs’ Swiss Army Knife. This season, this versatile athlete has worn many hats including quarterback, running back, receiver, and cornerback. While the New Orleans Saints have Taysom Hill, the Cecilia Bulldogs rely on Stewart to impact the game in a variety of different ways.
As a junior, Stewart showed what kind of impact he can make to an offense. He finished last season with 500 yards receiving, 200 yards rushing, and 200 yards passing with 11 touchdowns to boot.
Last season gave Bulldogs fans a taste of what he could do and now, they got a full sample size of how vital a role Ellis Stewart is on this football team. With their star quarterback Diesel Solari nursing an ankle injury earlier in the season, Stewart stepped up to be the starting quarterback and thrived by completing 25 of 39 passes for 485 yards and nine touchdowns. When Solari came back, Stewart returned to his normal role as a playmaker in Cecilia’s explosive offensive attack with 500 yards and six touchdowns receiving plus 500 yards rushing and six more scores.
As athletic and versatile he is as on the gridiron, he is just as athletic everywhere else. For the Cecilia basketball team, he has averaged double digits in scoring the last two years. As a baseball player, he has a .400 baseball batting average and finally, in track, he is part of two relay teams that made the state track meet.
Similar to Bo Jackson in his Bo Knows campaign, it seems that everything that involves athletics, this 6’0, 185 pound multi-sport athlete can do it all. Despite it all and with a 3.0 GPA and 18 ACT score, Ellis Stewart is still searching for a college offer and he is hoping that two more opportunities not only in the Superdome, but in the 2024 Gridiron Football All-American Bowl Game will help him receive a college scholarship.

The Gridiron Football All-American Bowl Game will take place on Monday, December 30th at Memorial Stadium in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
