Alexandria Senior High DB Jaden Lewis has committed to the Gridiron Football All-American Bowl Game. As one of the best players of one of the best teams in the state of Louisiana, he’ll be a big get for whichever team is lucky enough to have him bolster their secondary.
I’ve already written at length about Jaden in a DITR article here in the summer, but I’ll briefly go over the strengths of his game here. Jaden is a free safety because of his size (5’11” but only 163 lbs), but he will still tackle like anyone else out there in spite of his size. He’s extremely fast, has great acceleration and quick feet, and very impressive instincts and play recognition. He’s elite in coverage, but there are also few safeties I have seen that are as good at being in position to make a tackle in the entire state of Louisiana. He combines the film study and instincts to know where to be and the athleticism and speed to get there quickly like few others. Despite his size, he’s willing to bring the boom when trying to tackle, bringing a level of physicality you would not expect.
He has only improved over this season, helping to lead ASH to one of their best seasons ever, including a district title and a state championship appearance. He was actually an all district DB and an all district WR, showing how versatile he was in his skills. On defense, Lewis finished the season with 68 tackles (which, even with the higher number of games than normal due to the deep playoff run, is still a really impressive number for a safety), 2.5 TFLs, 2 FFs, 5 INTs, and 2 PBUs. He did everything and was an integral part of his team’s success this season. He has 3 offers so far from smaller schools, but the bowl game is always an opportunity for even greater exposure, an opportunity that he is looking to take advantage of.
I think this is a great start to getting out to recruiters and giving them a better representation of the player that I am. I want to find more brothers that love the game as much as I do!
