Jonah Williams is a class of 2025 safety and wide receiver that plays for Ball High School in Galveston, Texas. With brilliant ability on both sides of the ball, Jonah was named football district MVP for District 9 in the 5A-1 division of Texas football, and was named to the Texas High School Coaches Association Super Elite Team, an award given to the top players in the state. At 6’4 and 205 lb., Jonah has great size for his positions that he continuously utilized to his full advantage during the season. A high-motor player with an incredible instinct and football IQ, he is dynamic in his ability to sniff out throws in pass coverage as well as stepping up and being proactive in run coverage. Already having offers from schools like Ohio State, the University of Texas, Texas A&M, and Oklahoma, Jonah is ready to build on an incredible sophomore season in the fall of 2023.

Q: What motivated you to start playing football and what keeps you going today?
“All my older brothers played football so I just wanted to follow along with them and just live it up. I also like hitting people so that’s another factor. What keeps me motivated is working so hard to where my parents don’t have to work anymore.”
Q: What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned from playing so far?
“Losing is the biggest lesson I’ve learned playing football, learning how to lose.”
Q: What are your biggest strengths?
“My biggest strength is being a leader.”
Q: Do you have any activities outside of football that keep you sharp for the season?
“Staying in shape playing basketball and baseball and working out during the summer to perfect my craft. Hand-eye coordination and my leadership skills from those sports translate to the football season.”
Q: What is your favorite football memory?
“Probably winning district with my older brother this past year. It was special to win it together.”
Q: Do you have any current goals?
“To get one percent better every day, and to not let the person next to me outwork me.”
Q: What are you looking for in a college campus?
“Great hospitality, a school that feels like home, a school with a great education, and a school that will help me be a better man in life.”
Q: How do you balance life as a student athlete?
“I make sure my priorities are straight, I make sure I always finish my school work before going out to the field, a friend’s house, or out in general.”
Q: Do you have a professional NFL player you look up to or model your game after?
“Derwin James or Tyrann Mathieu. They come down and make big plays, and I know they play huge roles in their defenses, so I definitely try to emulate my game after them.”
Q: When you speak to college recruiters, how do you describe yourself as a player?
“Hard-working, I’m a great leader, and coachable. I get things done when they need to get done.”
Q: Do you have an inspirational figure you look up to?
“My dad and older brother. They’re just productive men and have great lives.”
Q: Do you have a pregame routine?
“Prayer, I pray to God, that’s really what I do before every game.”
Q: Do you have any advice for players stepping into varsity for the first time?
“Keep working, never let up, keep your foot on the pedal, never let the person next to you outwork you, and stay true to yourself, don’t try to be anybody else.”
Q: Do you have a favorite football movie?
“The Waterboy.”
Q: If there was an NFL you could plug yourself into right now, what team would you choose?
“The Bengals, because I really like the way they run their defense, and I think they would fit me the best out of all the NFL teams.”
