Gridiron Football Louisiana Player of Week 1: St. Edmund High School Running Back Kevon Johnson

High school football is back, and Gridiron Football is excited to announce that each and every week, Andy Bryson and Jace LeJeune will announce a player of the week for the state of Louisiana each and every week. Not only will we announce the winner, but we will also give a shoutout to other outstanding performances by other players for that week as well. For week 1, our Louisiana player of the week is St. Edmund High School running back Kevon Johnson, who had a huge game as only a freshman with 248 yards rushing and two touchdowns on only 21 carries. He also added an 83-yard kickoff return for a touchdown. Not only did this running back accomplish this feat as a freshman, but he did so against Class 5A competition making our player of the week. Check out this video to see who were some other standout candidates that caught our eye this week.

Check out the Gridiron Football Player of the Week show, which will be posted every week!

6. Many High School senior LB Tackett Curtis:

Everybody that knows about recruiting knows about Many High School’s star linebacker Tackett Curtis, who is currently committed to the USC Trojans. Tackett can beat you in so many ways obviously as a linebacker, but he is also the team’s quarterback as well. However, he is on this list this week because of what he did on special teams as he returned not one, not two, but three punts for touchdowns. Being a punt returner is one of the hardest positions to do in football and Tackett made it look very easy in a 38-3 win over Sam Houston.
