Jake Guichet is a senior quarterback at Willow High School located in New Orleans, LA. Jake is a multiple sport athlete, for Jacob thrives in both baseball and football. Just being introduced to the game last year Jake has had to train harder to learn the game and put it into action on the field. With Jake’s athletic ability he has been able to translate to the field very well, for he has already received two offers from the Division III level. He is in talks with more schools as well, as the season continues. In his matchup against Airmen Jake was responsible for 7 touchdowns in the game. When talking with Jake his most improved skill is his ability to handle pressure, relating himself to Drew Brees. Jake is a player who holds himself to a high standard, for before the season started he set 15 goals for himself. Every time he steps on the field for practice and games it shows that he is determined to fulfill these goals. Look for Jake to continue to have success as the season continues.

What created your love for the game?
“My love for the game of football really started last year as a junior. I’ve always had fun throwing the ball around the yard and watching the NFL, but my passion for the game was truly born when I began playing in high school. High school football taught me that it’s more than just a game; it’s about brotherhood and going to war with the guys next to you.”
What is your dream college to play at?
“My dream college is any school with good academics where I can throw the ball.”
What would you say your biggest strengths on the field are?
“My biggest strength on the field is staying calm under pressure. I love the big moments.”
Which NFL player do you relate your style of play to?
“The player I look up to most in the NFL is Drew Brees. My coach gave me number 9 because he felt that I resembled him. I admire Drew for his competitiveness, his ability to make plays, and his overall poise.”
What have been your biggest improvements the last couple of years?
“Although I only started playing football last year, I believe my biggest improvement has been understanding the game. I never realized how much goes into every play in football, and being taught the ways of the game has led me to my success.”
How has the recruiting process been for you as a player?
“It has been really fun, and I am thankful for the opportunity to visit different colleges, see various programs, and meet new coaches. Starting football late in high school has set me back a little, but I have received two offers to play Division III football and I am still talking with other schools.”
What are some self goals you have as a player?
“Before my junior season, I made a list of 15 goals I wanted to accomplish by the end of my senior year. Most were related to football, but some were about academics and baseball. These goals included wanting to break a school record, receive a Player of the Week nomination, and more. I have completed most of these goals, but I am still working to achieve them all.”
How have your coaches helped you become a better player?
“My head coach, Coach JJ Smith, has taught me everything I need to know about the game. During games, it seems we are always on the same page, and he pushes me to be the best version of myself. I would not be here without him, and I am so grateful to have him as a coach.”
