The LSU Tigers got a huge pickup today as West Feliciana High School four star safety Joel Rogers has announced his commitment to the Bayou Bengals.
The St. Francisville, Louisiana product chose the Tigers over the likes of Texas, Alabama, TCU, and Tennessee.
“I always dreamed of playing college football. After taking visits there to LSU, it felt like home for me and it will be close for my parents to watch me play. It checked all the boxes for me.”
“The atmosphere is unmatched. LSU feels like home. I have been to a lot of games, but never felt anything like Death Valley. There is nothing like it. It’s a great school. I will be able to get my degree from there and my parents being close just adds to the top of it.”

This marks another in-state commitment from the 2024 class for the LSU Tigers joining recent 2024 commitments in LCA four star ATH Ju’Juan Johnson, Denham Springs High School four star safety Da’Shawn McBryde, East Feliciana four star tight end Trey’Dez Green, and Westgate High School three star DL De’Myrion Johnson.
Overall, this is Brian Kelly and crew’s 16th commitment for the 2024 class. Projected to play safety, the 6’0, 180 pound product with 4.4/40 speed will transition to play in the secondary for safeties coach Kerry Cooks and defensive coordinator Matt House.
Playing quarterback for the Saints, Rogers has been a standout for West Feliciana where he was an All-State Honorable Mention following a junior season in which he carried 90 times for 614 yards (6.8 yards per carry) and 10 touchdowns to go along with 996 yards passing (58 of 105) and 11 touchdowns. Having experience under center has helped the dual threat start the transition to playing on defense in the SEC.
“Understanding what defenses are looking for and knowing how to stop offenses, I learned to see that from an offensive standpoint so I know what I am looking at. I also know what coverage they are in.”

Currently, the Tigers have a top 10 recruiting class and Rogers wants to know that they welcome any talented recruits that will like to join the Tigers’ family, especially in-state products.
“I believe we grow up different in the Boot. We have a chip on our shoulder that we grow up with. We learn to play with it and that is something that we should give back to the Boot.”
