The offensive line got a big boost when U-High offensive guard Preston Jones has announced that he will be playing in this year’s Gridiron Football All-American Bowl Game.
Jones is on one of the best offensive line groups in the entire state of Louisiana and is also one of the best at his position in the state for the Cubs. At 6’4, 280 pounds, Jones uses his brute strength and size to maul defensive linemen in the running game. The Cubs have two talented running backs in the backfield in Sage Ingram and Corbin Odell along with one of the best quarterbacks in the state in Emile Picarella, but it has been the offensive line play with players such as Jones that have led the way for a Cubs offense that has high expectations of competing for a state championship this season.
On an offensive line that also includes five star Lamar Brown, Jones has still gotten the attention of some pretty big colleges. In fact, he has committed to play for the Nicholls State Colonels. Jones and Bunkie High School CB Kyle Johnson are the first two college football commits to play in this year’s Gridiron Football All-American Bowl Game.
“What really sold me on the Colonels and wanting to commit to Nicholls was Thibodaux itself and the coaching staff. I see a great opportunity to develop under Coach PJ their offensive line coach and I feel I can take my game to the next level under him as well as Thibodaux being a very homelike town and feeling very welcoming to me. On my visit, I was very impressed with the facilities and the game day environment. University Lab has had a ton of players go through there as well as some other guys I felt would be fun to play with over the next couple of years.”

With a 3.5 GPA and a 24 ACT score in the classroom, Jones has been also a great student athlete that has achieved some tremendous success on the gridiron being named All-Metro, All-District, and also having partaken in the US Army All-American Combine.
Preston Jones is excited that he will have one more opportunity to represent the U-High Cubs at the Gridiron Football All-American Bowl Game, which will take place at Memorial Stadium in Baton Rouge, Louisiana on Monday, December 30th.
“I am very excited to play in the bowl game this year. In my eyes, it is my last chance to play high school football. I’m very grateful for the opportunity and am excited to see how the other guys match up against me. The bowl game will be an extra opportunity to compete and have fun before heading off to college. I hope to get a fun experience out of the game and accomplish bringing my team to victory.”
