LaGrange High School LB Stephen Coleman has committed to the Gridiron Football All-American Bowl Game. He’s a rangy thumper that is a great addition to his team’s defense.

Stephen Coleman is a field general – he does two things specifically very well. He’s fast, and he’s a sure tackler. He does plenty of other things well too of course, but those are the two big strengths. He gets to the ball quickly, and once he gets there, that play is over. He makes the tackle. He’s an undersized LB at only 5’8″, 180 lbs, but that allows him to zoom across the field. His combination of raw speed and lateral agility allows him to run to the ball like it had a magnet in it.

The fact that he’s a linebacker in spite of his size I think speaks a lot to his tackling ability. If he couldn’t tackle like a linebacker, he’d play safety. But he does tackle like a linebacker, a great tackler even. His tackling technique is really solid, and he’s not afraid to tackle anybody he has to. He finished the season with 73 tackles, 3 INTs, 1 TD, and 2 sacks on the season, as well as 1st Team All-District honors. He is always maximizing his potential on the field, and it’s clear that he will continue to do so as he moves to the next level because he has a 3.3 GPA. He doesn’t have any offers yet, but that just makes him one of the hungriest players going into this bowl game. This is one of his last chances to get his name out there, and he will do everything he can with that opportunity.

There’s a lot of competition out there from all around the country and I can’t wait to go head to head against them.
