Grand Lake High School’s Swiss Army knife Kaden Taylor has committed to play in the 2023 Gridiron Football All-American Bowl Game. Over his prep career, Taylor has played multiple positions including defensive end, linebacker, tight end, safety, and even quarterback. At 6’1, 200 pounds, Taylor will play linebacker in the bowl game. One thing that sticks out about the versatile Grand Lake athlete is that he has the knack to always be around the football. In his junior season, he had 102 tackles, 8 TFLs, 5 sacks, 3 forced fumbles, 5 fumble recoveries, 2 INTs returned for touchdowns, and he did all of that at defensive end. His senior season, he moved to linebacker and despite missing a couple of games, he still had 64 tackles this year. Offensively, he has scored eight rushing touchdowns, four passing touchdowns, two receiving touchdowns, and even had a kickoff return for a touchdown. A big highlight during his prep career was when he had 18 tackles, a pick six, and a kickoff return for a touchdown in a playoff game against LaSalle as a junior.
Along with a 3.8 GPA and a 20 ACT score, Kaden Taylor has a high football I.Q. as his dad Billy Taylor has been a big part of starting up the junior Hornets program that has been a successful part to the development of the ascension of the high school program that made deep playoff runs including a state championship runner-up finish in 2020. As of right now, this Hornet has offers to play college football for Lyon College and Centenary College, but he is looking to get more offers before it is all said and done as he will play his last high school football game at Memorial Stadium for the 2023 Gridiron Football All-American Bowl Game.
