BREAKING NEWS: Catholic High School (Baton Rouge, LA) DL Blair Rousseau Commits To The Gridiron Football All-American Bowl Game

Another Louisiana high school football state champion has committed to play in the 2023 Gridiron Football All-American Bowl Game, and that is Catholic High School (Baton Rouge, LA) defensive lineman Blair Rousseau. At 5’11, 240 pounds, Rousseau may not be the biggest defensive tackle around, but what he does have is an impressive motor that is always going over 100 miles per hour on every play. He compares his playing style to Aaron Donald as like the Rams’ All-Pro defensive tackle, he may not be 6’3 or 6’4, but he is still wrecking havoc on opposing offenses. His wrestling background as a Top five finisher in the LHSAA State Wrestling Tournament also makes it tough for anybody to try and block him as his strong lower body gives him the ability to get lower than bigger offensive lineman and push them around. His strength is showcased in the weight room as he can bench press 345 pounds and can squat 475. Rousseau also has the versatility to play either defensive end or defensive tackle as he is quick enough to play on the edge with 5.1/40 speed. When not playing football or wrestling, Rousseau enjoys playing tennis and golf. During the offseason, the Catholic High defensive lineman was one of our top performers for our Gridiron Football Elite Camp Series as he earned a Gridiron Football All-American Bowl Game invitation after his strong performance at the St. Edmund (Eunice) offseason camp.

This season, Rousseau proved to be one of the driving forces for Catholic’s defense on their way to a fifth state championship with 56 total tackles, 12 TFLs, and multiple sacks. His best and most impactful performance this season was in the team’s district championship which he had three sacks, ten tackles, and 3.5 TFLs against the Zachary Broncos. The Bears’ two year starter has been a part of two state championship teams and his experience in being big time games will help any college. Right now, Rousseau has not received any offers, but schools like Belhaven and Centenary College have shown a lot of interest. Playing in the Gridiron Football All-American Bowl Game, Rousseau wants to show colleges what he is capable of against some great competition for his last high school football game of his career at Memorial Stadium on December 30th.

“It is a blessing and an honor that I was even asked to play in the game.”
