Escambia High School (Pensacola, FL) linebacker Jaylin Harris has committed to play in the upcoming Gridiron Football All-American Bowl Game, which will be played on Saturday, December 30th at Memorial Stadium in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
Harris is the fourth different player to represent the Gators in this upcoming bowl game as he is joined by his teammates in QB Anthony Hall, DL Ryan McVay, and DB Tadarius Wright. Playing for one of the most prestigious winning programs in the state of Florida, Harris was one of the Gators’ top defenders this season. After coming off an injury shortened season as a junior, the 5’11, 200 pound outside linebacker was flying all over the field as a senior.

In 2023, the Gators’ three year starter had 129 total tackles, four sacks, two forced fumbles, four fumble recoveries, one interception, and scored one touchdown. Playing outside linebacker, Harris is quick and twitchy as he can drop back and coverage or he can come off the edge and help against the run. Even though he is a linebacker, Harris compares his game to former LSU Jim Thorpe Award winner and current Cleveland Browns safety Grant Delpit.
As a starter on the Gators’ FHSAA 6A State Championship runner-up team, Harris is a savvy player that displays a high football I.Q. It is very surprising that despite his success, he has yet to receive a college offer. Coming down to Louisiana with his three teammates for his final high school game, he would like to show out and impress some of the college coaches throughout the week.
“It means a lot to me to be able to participate in the Gridiron Football All-Star game especially with me missing my junior season. This game allows me to finish my high school career on top and play with my brothers Ant, Ryan, and TD one last time.”

Off the field, an interesting fact about the Gators’ ballhawking linebacker is that he loves to play basketball and hasn’t missed a free throw all season. When his playing days are over, Jaylin Harris plans on going to barber school.
