Escambia defensive end Ryan McVay has committed to play in the fifth annual Gridiron Football All-American Bowl.
“It definitely means the absolute most to me to be able to play in the Gridiron Allstar game because not many get this opportunity and after having to miss a whole season I didn’t think iId be able to play 110% but overcame the injury and all the hard work I’ve put in is finally paying off!!”
McVay recorded 116 total tackles, 22 tackles for loss, 9.5 sacks and 10 hurries during the 2023 season.
McVay’s only offer has come from Division I FCS program Nicholls State but he has gained intrest from schools like Pearl River Community College, Austin Peay, Memphis and Mississippi State.
Two people that McKay idolizes are his former teammates Rasheed Lovelace and Elijah Douglas.
“They took me under their wing taught me everything I needed to know and kept me motivated so they really are the ones who made me who am today! I plan on becoming an engineer preferably an electrical engineer after my football days are over!”
When he’s not on the field, he spends most of my free time working at Taco Bell with his grandmother.
