West Louisiana will be showing off their ball hawks in the Gridiron Football All-American Bowl Game as DeRidder DB Jatari Harris has committed to play.
Harris is a senior leader for the Dragons where he recently completed an impressive final season with them in 2024. He tallied 46 tackles, 4 INTs, and 9 PBUs, proving to be a real playmaker when the ball gets thrown his way. He also earned 2nd team all-District honors for his efforts this year.
Primarily playing outside corner, Harris uses his long arms and instincts to make really impressive plays on the ball as receivers try to break away from him on their routes. His biggest strength is his quick reaction to the ball being thrown. He breaks at the target instantly, getting there before the quarterback would ever expect him to, which is what led to all of his PBUs and INTs. He’s also a very physical corner. He’s not huge (6’0″ 180 lbs), but he plays like a big corner, making the receiver he is guarding work for every reception.
Harris is a hard worker in all facets of life, but his sole focus right now seems to be on football. When he isn’t grinding the tape or on the field, he is in the weight room working at all times. He also succeeds in the classroom, where he has posted a 2.9 GPA.
I want to play in the bowl game in order to get coaches to look at me so that I can show them I am good enough to play football at the next level.
