Delta Charter High School (Ferriday, LA) running back Otis Bates Jr. has committed to play in the 2023 Gridiron Football All-American Bowl Game, which will be played this Saturday, December 30th at Memorial Stadium in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
Bates and quarterback Juvari Singleton, who has also committed to play in the 2023 Gridiron Football All-American Bowl Game, have been a great 1-2 punch in the backfield this year for the Storm en route to their first ever district championship. Bates, who ran for over 1,000 yards and had double digit touchdowns this year, was a great sidekick in a dynamic offensive backfield. Even though Bates may not be the biggest running back out there at 5’7, 180 pounds, but he uses that to his advantage as he hides behind his offensive line and quickly hits the hole with great vision and acceleration making it tough for defensive linemen and linebackers to find him. Bates is a playmaker with the ability to make a lot of game changing plays. Because of his ability to break tackles and explode through the line of scrimmage, he has compared his playing style to players like Kenneth Walker and Jalen Milroe.
The former Aaron’s Ace got a couple of players of the week awards over his career and is looking forward to showing off his talents in the upcoming Gridiron Football All-American Bowl Game.
“It means a lot to me. It’s a big opportunity for me to meet coaches and meet other players. This is a great opportunity for me to show my skills and how hard of a football player I am.”Delta Charter High School 2024 RB Otis Bates Jr.
Right now, Bates has only received interest from John Melvin University, but he is looking to impress coaches not only for his play, but his work ethic as an interesting fact about Bates is that he always likes to workout even after a football game the next day.
