BREAKING NEWS: Catholic High School (Baton Rouge, LA) DB Colin Coates Commits To The Gridiron Football All-American Bowl Game

From Catholic High School in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Colin Coates has decided to commit to the Gridiron Football All-American Bowl Game. At 5’11, 170 pounds, Coates is an excellent tackler in the backend of the defense. He has great ball skills and has great technique when wrapping up ball carriers. As a wily veteran of a talented Bears defense, Coates has been a leader at the safety position and has a high football I.Q. The senior Bears defender excels the most in the box where as a junior he registered 36 tackles, three forced fumbles, a fumble recovery, an interception, and 13 tackles for loss. As a senior, Coates continued to be all around the football with 40 tackles, two TFLs, and a PBU.

Being a physical safety, Coates compares his play to former Philadelphia Eagles safety Brian Dawkins. He is still searching for his first college offer, but he is hoping that his strong play down the stretch of the season and his performance in the upcoming Gridiron Football All-American Bowl Game will help him give him an offer before it is all said and done on Saturday, December 30th at Memorial Stadium.

“I am extremely excited and blessed to be able to compete and play in this year’s Gridiron Bowl. This is my chance to show my love and commitment to the sport.”

Coates was offered to play in the bowl game after his strong Rayville Gridiron Football Elite Camp performance before the season. Before playing in the bowl game, Coates is focused on trying to lead the Bears to a state championship as Catholic High is one game away from going to the Superdome.
