Entering the 2024 season Glen Oak looks to turn things around with second-year head coach Anthony Jones. After a rough 2023 season only going 2-8, Coach Jones and the Panthers look to turn things around and hopefully make a playoff run after a 14-year drought. His new message to the team is “Be consistent and do your job.” After a week 2 loss to Tara, the Panthers look to bounce back in their game against Baker.
We’re just trying to work hard and be consistent, man. Bring back that old Glen Oaks spirit and writing the community back in, man, get that support from the community.

Coach Jones is excited about his O-line’s future and thinks this is a key part of bringing Glen Oaks back to the playoffs.
We’re gonna be big up front, so if I can keep them boys consistent and keep them doing their job, I think we’ll be on our way to bringing Glen Oaks back trying to make the playoffs.
Coach Jones on the O-line
His main focus for his team this year is building character and making sure his team stays consistent. The one thing he is really passionate about is reuniting the community with that panther pride he once knew the town had when we played there. He is also really focusing on making sure he gets kids from the Glen Oak community to go play for the Panthers. One star player he talked about was Jeremiah Smith.
Once he puts it together my thing he’s gonna he’s gonna be great with good character.
Coach Jones on Jeremiah Smith
Jeremiah Smith is a 5’9″, 158 lbs sophomore at Glen Oaks and is set to graduate in 2027. He is a duel threat playing wide receiver and a defensive back. He has an older brother who plays Quarterback at Houston and growing up with him helped with his development as a football player. The thing that separates him is his ability to keep receivers on lock down and especially as a defensive back having a quarterback brother has helped him improve on his abilities. His goals for this year are to have a great season and really make a name for himself and get his name out there. He also said, just like coach Jones, that he want to make it to the playoffs.
I would say my lock down ability. I can really lock down people.

The schedule for this year looks really exciting especially with the revival of some old rivalries and a set of schools in which Glen Oaks has not played before, I suggest going and taking a look at this up-coming team.
