One of the top defensive players in the state of Louisiana has made his college commitment and that is Woodlawn (Baton Rouge, LA) DE Tyrone Morgan, who made his decision to commit to the Baylor Bears after an official visit a couple of days ago.
Even though it was a great official visit, it was the Baylor staff’s persistent pursuit of the 6’4, 240 pound pass rusher that won him over in the end surpassing other offers like Texas State, UTSA, San Diego State, Tulsa, South Alabama, and others.
“It was really the coaching staff, the environment, and what they are building up there really. They went 8-4 last year, could have made the Big 12 championship and had a playoff spot. I believe that is something that I can help build with their program.”

On the visits, there was a lot of discussion on where the versatile Morgan would fit in Dave Aranda’s defense. After conversations with Edge Coach Carson Hall, the Woodlawn Panther is licking his chops about what his role will look like once he goes to Waco next year.
“Discussing it in the team meeting room, the position that I will be playing is outside linebacker and edge rusher. I am going to be a standup end, but I will also be dropping in coverage while also pass rushing.”
“Before Coach Hall was at Baylor, he coached a lot of good edge rushers. He was at Georgia and coached Nolan Smith and other defensive ends. He compared me to those guys.”

Morgan prides himself on his first step and his get off to get the advantage on offensive tackles. That is something he has developed and picked up from another defensive line guru, which is Chris Clark.
“Coach Clark has played a huge role in my development. I would not be the player that I am today without him. He has really helped me a lot.”

Now that he has decided to play for the Bears, the new Baylor commit’s focus is on his senior season. After making 1st Team All-District with 31.5 tackles, 13.5 TFLs, 6.5 sacks, 2 forced fumbles, 1 PBU, and a fumble recovery, he has big goals for this upcoming year.
“We are trying to compete for a lot this year. The goal is to make a deep run in the playoffs and make it to the state championship. We just want to go out and be dominant this season.”
“Individually, I am coming off a 1st Team All-District season last season, so I am going for the same thing plus All-State honors. I am looking for that too.”

The All-District selection is also looking forward to playing in the 2025 Gridiron Football All-American Bowl Game as he was invited to play in the prestigious All-Star game after his top performance at an Elite Camp this year.
“I am very happy and thankful that you guys gave me the opportunity. I definitely want to play in the bowl game. Another two of my teammates Aprilleo and Cayden got invited to the bowl game too so it is going to be fun to play with them.”
