Wide Receiver Kayshon Boutte Announces Return To LSU In 2023

The LSU Tigers got some incredible news that their star wide receiver Kayshon Boutte has announced on Twitter that he is returning to play for the Tigers in 2023 and will forgo the NFL Draft.

The former Westgate High School product immediately splashed on the scene as a freshman when he led the Tigers in receiving with 45 catches for 735 yards and five touchdowns including a SEC record breaking performance against Ole Miss in which he had 14 catches for 308 yards and three touchdowns in 2020.

Last season, Boutte was on his way to having an All-American season as he had 509 receiving yards and nine touchdowns until his season ending ankle injury forced him to miss the final seven games of the season.

Boutte headed into his junior season as one of the best receivers in the country and was a preseason All-American as well as on the Biletnikoff Award Watch List. He was also a projected first round NFL Draft pick at the beginning of the season. To his standards, statistically, it was not the season he desired, but he is still second on the team with 48 catches for 538 yards and two touchdowns heading into the Tigers’ final game of the season in the Citrus Bowl.

It was a big surprise that Boutte announced his decision to return as many expected him to leave for the NFL Draft, but Boutte is clearly excited about the direction that head coach Brian Kelly has got this program headed and will get another year to help the Tigers accomplish their goal of finishing the season on top as National Champions again.
