Rising Star: DE Greyston McGinnis Brame Jr High (Alexandria, LA)

Meet our latest Rising Star Greyston McGinnis who is quickly establishing himself as a dominant presence on the defensive line for Brame Junior High. As a defensive end, he brings a relentless motor, strength, and a determination to disrupt offenses. Whether he’s setting the edge, rushing the passer, or shutting down the run, Greyston plays with intensity and a never-give-up attitude.

But his impact isn’t just natural talent Greyston is committed to constant improvement. He puts in the extra work, training hard to become faster, stronger, and more explosive off the line. Focused on refining his technique and building his football IQ, he knows that every rep in practice brings him one step closer to his goals.

In December, Greyston had the opportunity to participate in our Gridiron Football Junior High Bowl Game for Team Central. The experience gave him the opportunity to showcase his skills more and open himself up for more eyes to see him, watch out for Greyston in the future.

With his work ethic and passion for the game, Greyston is a name to watch. His drive to excel and his commitment to growth make it clear that he’s just getting started.

As he continues to push himself both on and off the field, one thing is certain Greyston McGinnis is on a path to becoming a true defensive powerhouse. I had the great opportunity to talk to Greyston and ask him a few questions you can see that below!

Who got you into football?

“Myself, I was looking for a sport that I would like to play. My first time playing was on a flag football team and I loved it.”

Why do you play the game of football?

“I play football because it is fun, and I want to get better at it.”

What’s the biggest lesson you’ve learned through playing football?

“I have learned discipline, structure, and how to be a team player.”

Where do you see football going in your life?

“My dream is to play college football and maybe even go pro.”

What is your favorite football memory?

“My favorite football memory is when I played in the All American game. It was so much fun playing with all my friends.”

What does football mean to you?

“I eat, sleep, and live for football. It has really changed me as an athlete, and a person over all.”

What challenges have you had while playing football?

“Adjusting to new positions.”

How did you overcome those challenges?

“Learning new technics and going to practices and trainings.”

How do you stay trained and in football-shape during the off-season?

“Playing 7vs7 travel football and being on the school tract team.”

How are you looking to get better and improve in football?

“To become stronger and faster.”

What are some goals that you have set for yourself in the future?

“My goals are to go to college and become an engineer.”

Who is your favorite football player and why?

“My favorite football player is Justin Jefferson because he came from LSU, the college I want to attend and he dominated in his rookie year.”

What football teams do you cheer for?

“My favorite football team that I cheer for is the Cowboys.”

What do you think your biggest strength is?

“My biggest strength is my thinking skills in the game and being emotionally stabled.”

What are your goals going forward?

“My goals going forward is to become the best football player that I can be.”

Do you have a fun fact about yourself?

“A fun fact about myself is I like to ride dirt bikes.”
