LSU is Starting to Heat Up on the Field & in Recruiting After Auburn Win

This past Saturday proved to be a great game for the LSU Tigers not only on the field with the team’s best and most complete performance of the season with a 48-18 win over the Auburn Tigers. It was the second most lopsided win by the LSU Tigers in the series history.

The offense continued its incredible streak with a program record sixth straight 500 yard plus performance and Jayden Daniels continued to pad on the stats in leading the SEC’s number one scoring offense. While the defensive side of the football has certainly been a liability, there were positive strides being made on that side of the football as the LSU Tigers forced six punts and only gave up 293 total yards of offense. It was a dominant performance in front of a packed Tiger Stadium filled with 102,000 screaming fans.

“Tonight, we played really well. We got off to a hot start. That is a good football team that we beat tonight, and we beat them in a manner that does not happen quite often. I am proud of our guys, and I thought they had a great mindset. I thought they were more physical tonight. We were the more physical team.”

“The offense is averaging over the last five teams they played, incredible offensive production. Throwing it, catching it, running it, the offensive line; it is pretty impressive stuff. There is not much else to say but a 48-18 win against a pretty solid Auburn football team, a well-coached team, I am pretty excited about it.”

LSU Head Coach Brian Kelly on the win

That win is certainly exciting not only for the rest of the season as LSU still has a lot of their goals ahead of them when it comes to playing for a SEC West championship, but the Tigers also had a big weekend when it comes to recruiting.

In fact, the Tigers picked up two commitments after the Auburn victory with one coming from the 2024 class and the other coming from the 2025 class.

Coming from the 2024 recruiting class was former Georgia Tech commit CJ Jackson, who announced his decision to commit to the Tigers on social media. He makes the announcement after recently reopening his recruitment.

Jackson, who plays for Tucker High School in Tucker, Georgia, is a Top 200 prospect in the country as a four-star defensive end and is also one of the top edge rushers in the country. His commitment makes it the 23rd overall for the 2024 class with the wake of two recent LSU decommitments in four-star receiver Joseph Stone Jr. and four-star cornerback Ondre Evans, but the Tigers’ current recruiting class is still in good position as a Top 10 recruiting class that has the ability to make its way up in the rankings.

While the 2024 class is certainly going to be in the upper echelon of the top classes in the nation, the 2025 class is also shaking up that way with LSU getting a commitment from Edna Karr High School in four-star wide receiver TaRon Francis. Nicknamed “ManChild”, Francis is certainly a man among boys as a 6’1, 200-pound receiver. The four-star prospect has chosen the Tigers over other offers that include Florida State, Michigan, Marshall, Texas A&M, Troy, Ole Miss, Mississippi State and Florida A&M.

The 2025 class already is ranked number six and has five commitments already. Francis also joins five-star wide receiver Dakorien Moore as the two wide receivers that are committed in that class.

The overall number for both upcoming classes are still growing as LSU hosted numerous players this past weekend including the number one overall quarterback and player for the 2025 class in Bryce Underwood.

Besides plenty of LSU commits that were there, there were also plenty of uncommitted prospects and other commits from other schools that LSU was trying to flip.

There are a couple of notable names to keep an eye on moving forward in the 2024 class, including four-star ATH Drelon Miller, who recently decommitted from Texas A&M after his visit in Baton Rouge, as well as a couple of other current Texas A&M commits in five-star athlete Terry Bussey and defensive lineman Gabriel Reliford that the Tigers are trying to flip. With Miller already committing from the Aggies and having Bussey and Reliford already in Tiger Stadium for that atmosphere, those are positive signs that those Aggie commitments may be leaning the other way as we get closer to the early signing period.

The LSU Tigers may also get some exciting news moving forward as U-High four-star prospect Keylan Moses is set to make a commitment announcement really soon and LSU certainly can be one of those options he is leaning towards.

Everything came together for a smashing weekend for LSU as the Tiger Stadium crowd was at its finest, the football team put on one of its performances, and some of the biggest future names around the country seemed to be enjoying their time in Baton Rouge.

It was a great positive sign for LSU as the football team is starting to heat up and recruiting is starting to pick up as well, but as it has always been a current theme in the football world among coaches, it is always about finishing strong and the Tigers certainly need to continue piling up wins not only on the field, but off the field as well.
