Gulfport (MS) 2024 QB Nico Williams commits to Southeastern Louisiana

Earlier today, Gulfport High School’s Nico Williams, a quarterback, announced that he will be playing football for the Southeastern Louisiana Lions at the next level. Williams will also play baseball for the Lions, a major reason why he chose to commit to SLU.

MaxPreps lists Williams’ stats for this season as: 60 completions on 112 attempts for 966 yards and 6 touchdowns against 1 interception, along with 65 carries for 348 yards and 5 more touchdowns. Safe to say, Williams is a dual-threat quarterback.

I asked Nico about his decision to commit to Southeastern:

I chose Southeastern because I was told I’d be able to play both baseball and football and the opportunities were greater there.

I asked Nico about what he’s most excited about for getting the opportunity to play at the next level:

“I’m excited about the level of competition and drive that both players and coaches have for the game as well as building relationships with the team.”

I asked Nico about what he feels that he brings to the quarterback room that will make an immediate impact:

“I feel I bring many strengths to the QB room like arm strength, speed, as well as drive.”

I asked Nico about what it means to have the opportunity to play two sports in college:

“It means a lot, having a family full of athletes that have supported me through all my ups-and-downs, just to be able to make them proud.”

I asked Nico one final question: What do you want Lion fans to know about you?

“I want Lion fans to know that I’m bringing everything I got in order to help the team win and succeed.”
