DITR: WR Brice Duhon, Notre Dame High School (Crowley, LA)

Notre Dame High School has one of the best head coaches around in the state of Louisiana in Lewis Cook, who has achieved a Hall of Fame career with over 300 victories and four state championships to his credit.

He has also developed a lot of young student athletes over the years. One of those players that gets the pleasure of going through his program is wide receiver Brice Duhon.

“Playing for Coach Cook is an honor. The biggest lesson he’s taught me is to focus on doing my job and giving maximum effort every play.”

Do not let Duhon’s size fool you. At 5’8, 165 pounds, he is as tough as it comes and that toughness has been installed in him since he started playing the game of football at five years old. That continued to develop when he started seeing the field at Notre Dame early in his prep career on special teams. Playing special teams has allowed him to be an all-around football player and not just a receiver.

“Special teams helped me get involved in games early and develop my football instincts. It’s made me a more well-rounded player.”

Duhon is not only an unselfish teammate that is willing to block for his teammates and even tackle on special teams, but he is also a playmaker with the ball in his hands. Playing at Notre Dame, the Pios do not throw the ball a whole lot, but when they throw it to Duhon, there is a good chance a big play is going to happen.

“My speed, route running, and overall athleticism allow me to create separation and beat defenders effectively.”

Last season, he was an All-District Honorable Mention as a receiver and 2nd Team All-District as a return specialist with 17 grabs for close to 300 yards and two touchdowns while also adding a kickoff return for a touchdown against Lafayette Renaissance. Duhon showcased his speed at the 2024 Gridiron Football Elite Camp at Bossier High School where he ended up having the fastest 40 time of the camp with a 4.5.

“It was a great experience at the Gridiron camp. I enjoyed the drills, the 40 yard dash, and the 7 on 7 competition. It helped me refine my skills and compete against top talent.”

After having a good junior year, Duhon is now excited about having a bigger role in the passing game heading into his senior season with the Pios. He is focused on improving his speed and his agility to be a more complete wide receiver, but overall, his goal is to do whatever the team needs him to do in order to get back where Pio fans want to go and that is the Superdome.

“My goal is to do whatever my team needs to win whether that’s making big plays, blocking, or contributing on special teams.”

“We’ve been working hard this offseason. Expect an explosive offense, strong athleticism, and disciplined football. We’re aiming for another trip to the Dome.”

Duhon has been taking in all areas of his game and has even gotten better with his craft in other ways whether it is playing other sports or watching his favorite receiver run routes.

“I play basketball, which improves my agility and I run track, which helps me maintain and build my speed.”

“I like watching Ja’Marr Chase. I admire his explosiveness, route running, and ability to make plays after the catch.”

Duhon’s workmanlike attitude goes beyond just the football field as off the field, he spends time working in crawfish fields and farming. That work ethic is something that he wants to show to college coaches. With a 3.0 GPA, Brice Duhon wants to show college coaches that he is the right fit for their program as he serves an integral part for one of the top high school football programs in South Louisiana.

“I just want to tell college coaches that I’m a leader on and off the field. I bring energy, hard work, and 100% effort every day. I love the brotherhood of football and always putting my team first.”
