Get to know Chandler:

When did you begin playing football and why are you so passionate about playing this sport?

I began playing football at AAU with some of my friends and football has been one of the things I always watched on tv. I’ve loved the game since I was little and grew up playing it my whole life and something I want to continue.

Along the years of playing this sport, what is the most valuable lesson Football has taught you as a young man?

I would say one of the most valuable lessons is to not take advantage of things because it can easily go away from an injury, or anything can happen. Don’t take it for granted.

What sets you apart on the field from any other athlete?

My size, speed, and my want to. My attitude and my work ethic I would say is what really sets me apart.

Playing for a freshly new program, what would you say are some of the challenges of a young team and how are you guiding the team as a leader?

Some of the challenges were not really having a weight room. We were constantly moving and had multiple weight rooms to relocate with. We also didn’t have many players out; I would say maybe 20-30 kids for the first year or two. It was tough but I been playing at Orange Beach Football since we started, and my friends and I came a long way and we’ve grinded through. We also just got a new head coach last year, Jamey Dubose, you know he’s awesome and helped us grow last season we had a great season so we’re definitely on the up and coming.

How would your coaches describe you and your work ethic?

My coaches would describe me as hardworking in the classroom and on the field and serve as a leader on the team.

What is your greatest football memory thus far in your athletic career?

I would say summer workouts with all my guys just grinding in the weight room and working really hard is my greatest memories.

What are you most excited about in playing the next level of college football?

I’m most excited about improving and seeing how much better I can get, really testing my limits and seeing what I’m capable of at the next level.

What are your dream schools and what are you doing day by day to accomplish that dream?

My dream to play college football would be SEC or Power 5. Every single day I’m working hard, I’m playing track this year to get faster, I’m getting ready for spring training by working out, stretching, constantly doing drills, working with coaches, getting my football IQ and my mental up, hitting the weightroom and eating to get my weight where it needs to be.

How do you handle harsh criticism and feedback from coaches and mentors?

I take harsh criticism as fuel to want to do better and prove them wrong.

Do you have any pregame rituals or game day routines that help you mentally lock in?

On game days, I just put my earbuds in and lock in, avoid playing around and focus.

How would you describe a great leader?

I would say someone you can count on. Someone who is always present where you don’t have to worry about whether or not they’re going to show up to workouts, just someone you can depend on and really stands out.

What are some short term and long term goals you have set for yourself for your upcoming senior year?

For my senior year I want to lead the team in tackles on defense and I want to have a winning season my last season. My long-term and end goal for this all is to make it to the NFL, but by the end of the season I’d like to have a great highlight tape and to get a college scholarship.

On the top of your head, rank the top 3 priorities in your life right now.

First is my relationship with God, second is my relationship with my family, and third is just striving to be my best self-every day and be better every day.

Which NFL player would you say mirrors your playing style the most?

Aidan Hutchinson- Detroit Lions.

Lastly, who is your biggest role model in life? Who is to thank for how far you’ve come?

My biggest role model would be my dad. He has been awesome pushing me to my limits, helping me go to camps, taking me to schools, just helping me work out and do field stuff all the time. He’s been awesome.

DE, Chandler Wilson.
