HOLY COW! 58 YARDS!

In the first half things looked bad for New Orleans, as the offense only mustered three points while surrendering 14 to the visiting Texans.  Coach Payton must have given a very “motivational” speech during half-time as the second half became all New Orleans. Running back Latavius Murray ran for a 30-yard score on the opening drive of the half, and after Deandre Hopkins’ second touchdown of the game, Brees found Swiss Army Knife Taysom Hill in the end zone for a 9-yard touchdown.
A momentum-shifting pick by Saints safety Marcus Williams was followed by a 14-yard touchdown pass to Tre’Quan Smith and the Saints took a 24-21 lead. The Saints added another field goal with 55 seconds left in the game to go up, 27-21, but wait…
Deshaun Watson appeared to have delivered the Texans an incredible come-from-behind win with just two plays, a 38-yard pass to DeAndre Hopkins and a 37-yard touchdown pass to new Texans’ receiver Kenny Stills, to give the Texans the lead, but there seemed to be light at the end of the tunnel when Texans kicker Ka’imi Fairbairn  missed the PAT, but a questionable roughing the kicker penalty gave him a second chance and the Texans took a 28-27 lead.

The game appeared all over but Drew Brees still had time, and he did what Brees does. The 40-year-old quarterback marched the Saints 35 yards in 37 seconds and gave his kicker, Wil Lutz, a chance to win the game and set a career-long with a 58-yard field goal.

Lutz drilled it, giving the Saints’ fans a miracle, nail biting, about to pass out ending with a 30-28 win. Never leave early folks……..

Watson finished the game 20 for 30 with 268 passing yards, three passing touchdowns and an interception. He also rushed four times for 40 yards and a score. Watson connected with Hopkins eight times for 111 yards and two touchdowns.

Brees completed 32 of 43 passes for 370 yards and two touchdowns. He had one interception. He went to his favorite target, Michael Thomas, 10 times for a game-high 123 receiving yards. Running back Alvin Kamara also shined, taking 13 carries 97 yards while making seven catches for 72 yards.
