Diamond in the Rough: Xzavier English

Xzavier English a RB/WR out of Jacksonville High. With a solid frame of 5’10, 175 pounds, the senior finished off his high school career with a phenomenal final season. With 1,628 yards on 197 carries (8.3 YPC) and 23 TDs on the ground. Through the air, he had 25 receptions for 275 yards and another 3 TDs. Xzavier English looks to be a great addition to whatever college that he chooses to attend as he will be a consistent back for them!

When did you start playing football & what made you start playing?

“I have played football since I was about 6 or 7 years old and my inspiration to start playing honestly came from me just being a troublesome kid, who was put into a sport to build me, and I’ve loved it ever since.”

What do you love about football?

“What I love most about football is the community, the brotherhood that is formed, and the consistency of becoming a man can always be seen in the sport.”

What player, NFL or College did you model your game after?

“I grew watching Saquon Barkley, but as I got older I started to model my game after Jahmyr Gibbs, who plays for the Lions.”

What would your teammates say about you?

“I feel like my teammates would have good words, saying things like, “he is a good guy, who tries to lead his teammates to Christ”.”

What is your motivation?

“My motivation is Jesus, because through him, I am who I am today and able to be such a good example for the younger generation.” 

What parts of your game are you working on right now?

“The parts of my game I am working on the most is probably being more aggressive during my runs and be a tad bit more contact oriented.” 

What is your goal for this season?

“My goal for this season was to make the most of my senior season and my teammates really helped a lot with that.”

What game or moment in the game has been your favorite up to this point?

“My favorite moment was the saddest moment, which was my last high school touchdown, I felt it in my heart.”

What do you do on your free time outside of school?

“Outside of school, I spend a lot of time around church and on the golf course.” 

What is one thing that you think college coaches and recruiters should know about you?

“Something I want coaches to know about me is that I leave it all on the field and truly give it my all.”

What do you think your best trait is?

“My best trait is that I am a follower of Jesus.”
