Diamond in the Rough: Tyrin Singleton

Tyrin Singleton is a RB/WR/CB out of Delta Charter High. He has a solid frame of 5’10, 185 pounds Singleton is a dual threat weapon for his team, Tyrin Singleton is big on uplifting and improving himself and his teammates and he is a senior leader for his team. He has a 3.0 GPA and runs a 4.62 40 yard dash. One of his more impressive games of this season was his last game against General Trass, where he had 6 TDs and helped lead his team to an 84-82 victory. Tyrin Singleton’s next game will be 11/7, against St. Fredrick!

When did you start playing football & what made you start playing?

“I actually started playing at age five at a football tournament in Dallas,Texas. My brothers were all playing and I was too young to play, but one of the coaches saw me kicking in the end zone while they were practicing and asked my mom if I could play.”

What do you love about football?

“I love everything about football, I watch different players, I like how they train on and off the field. Watching new techniques getting faster and using better moves to use on defenders.”

What player, NFL or College did you model your game after?

“LSU is my favorite team. I feel like I model my game after Caden Durham, because he hits the holes fast, he is quick with his feet, and he is also humble as a player. I also like Kyren Lacy, his footwork as a wide receiver is incredible and when I’m at wide receiver, I have good releases that are quick and I can get by fast.”

What would your teammates say about you?

“My teammates would say a lot about me, such as I’m passionate, don’t give up, and I do everything one hundred percent. I have a great quarterback and good coaches that give me the ball as who I need to follow behind and following the hole. My quarterback (Will Wiley) and I, are like Curry and Klay when we need a clutch play coach can always rely on him and I.”

What is your motivation?

“My motivation is Jesus and my grandma, who sadly passed away. Also all of my family members like my mom, dad, and brothers, who push me to do better and never give up.”

What parts of your game are you working on right now?

“Parts of the game that I’m working on right now is tackling better and being the best athlete that been through my school.”

What is your goal for this season?

“My goal this season is to win back to back district championships and going far in the playoffs.”

What game or moment in the game has been your favorite up to this point?

“My favorite parts of a game have been against General Trass, my teammates and coaches trusted me with the ball. I was being patient to score, but when I got it I just knew the game was over, I think I had 6 touchdowns.”

What do you do on your free time outside of school?

“On my free time, QB, Will Wiley, RB, Ray Thomas, CB, Jaxon Myers, Titus Harrel, CB, Chase Evans, Layne King, and myself go to the field do some routes compete and see what we have to work on whether it’s footwork or speed.”

What is one thing that you think college coaches and recruiters should know about you?

“They should know that I will never have my head down, whether I mess up a play or not, I give 110 percent. I work hard outside or inside the school and I like helping my teammates improve their skills.”

What do you think your best trait is?

“My best trait is my smile. People always say I have a nice smile because they don’t know if I’m happy or mad, but I always have a good attitude.”
