The class of 2019 has impeccable talent from all over the state of Louisiana. These young men are forces to be reckoned with. One notable player is Patterson High’s Dajon Richard. Richard stands 6’0 and weighs 185 lbs. He benches 235 lbs, squats 510 lbs, and deadlifts 385 lbs. Dajon holds the positions of slot receiver and running back on the Lumberjack’s roster. As if his athleticism is not enough, Richard is also scholarly in the classroom; he maintains a 3.5 gpa and scored a 21 on the ACT. Pretty impressive, Dajon!
Richard has been playing football since he was 9 years old. When I asked who is his favorite football player, Dajon responded “My favorite football player would be AP because he’s explosive and reminds me of myself”. Many can agree that Richard is indeed explosive when he’s on the football field. Dajon says he looks up to his parents and also fellow Lumberjacks Mykel Jones, Daylon Charlot, and Nehemian Augustus. Dajon has been awarded first-team all athlete.

Dajon would like to attend any college that gives him the opportunity to do what he does best, which is play his heart out on the gridiron. He also wishes to attend a college that pushes him to work hard. When I asked what would be his field of study, he answered “I would like to study Business Administration”.
Richard’s future goals are to graduate from college and be one of the top drafts. His personal goals for this season are to break Ike Hilliard’s record in touchdowns and win a championship ring with his team. When I asked if there is a motto he lives by, Dajon responded “God first; my family is my motivation”. Richard is dedicating this season to all of his loved ones that have gone home as well as his family and friends.
It was a pleasure interviewing this intelligent and talented young man. He has his goals aligned as well as his athletics and academics balanced out. We’re looking forward to what Dajon and the Lumberjacks will accomplish during the rest of this season!
