DITR: Joshua Johnson

Joshua Johnson is a class of 2023 defensive tackle for Catholic High School in Baton Rouge, LA. He is 6’1 and weighs 305 pounds. He was a part of the 2020 and 2021 state championship team and was 2nd Team All-District this year and last year. This season he had 50 tackles and 5 sacks. He squats 500, benches 340 and power cleans 315. He currently has one offer from Louisiana College. Joshua possesses incredible strength on the front line. He maneuvers well and uses his strength to his advantage on the field.

Tell me a little bit about yourself.

J:  I’m from New Orleans. I mainly like to play football and I do track, power lift, cut grass, and play with my dogs.

What made you play football?

J: My Uncle Marcus told my dad to let us play and ever since I’ve played at the same position. 

What is going through your mind before a game?

J: I really think about the game plan. I’m usually really calm.

What is something you’ve learned in football that you’ve been able to apply in everyday life?

J: Accountability because there are other people counting on you.

What are some goals you have for this upcoming season?

J: I want to get down to 295 so I can be faster off the ball. I want to try to get 50 or 60 tackles and 7-10 sacks

What is something that keeps you motivated to be a great athlete?

J: my family they keep me going they keep me stronger. My dad brings me to different places to train.

What is your biggest strength?

J: my ability to move and take double teams and be quick off the ball

What are you most excited for when you think about your future in football?

J: being able to play at the next level and playing the game I love.
