Hauss Hejny is a 5’11 185 pound quarterback that is entering his Senior season for the Aledo Eagles. He is coming off leading his team to 5A Division 1 State Championship win against College Station this past December. Just his second season as the starter for the team, he is looking to build off of last seasons performance by furthering his game throwing the football. He is a dual-threat prospect that can do it both with his arm and with his legs. He currently holds offers from Duke, TCU, California, Oklahoma State, and others.

Here is my interview with Hauss Hejny

When did you start playing football?

I started playing football when I was four years old. I started playing flag then switched over to tackle in kindergarten.

What are some hobbies you like to do outside of school?

I love to deer and bird hunt. Recently, I picked up the guitar and love to play some country music. Lastly, I love doing activities on the water like jet skiing and such.

Have you played other sports outside of football?

I have done both basketball and track at Aledo.

What was it like leading your team to a state championship this past year?

It is something I have dreamed of since I was little… To be in that position at Cowboys Stadium, it was a dream come true for me.

Is there a NCAA/NFL player that you would compare yourself to?

Mentality wise, I would compare myself to Jalen Hurts. He went through some hardships, but he kept a positive mindset and I admire that. Also, the way he spins the ball and runs the football makes me compare myself to him.

What skills do you have that sets yourself from the others?

I would say my competitive edge… I’m going to do everything to win at the end of the day. I can run the football to extend plays. Lastly, getting the team behind my back with my leadership skills. I’m not much a talker, I want to show all my hard work in the offseason do the talking.

Do you have a favorite football moment in your young career?

My most recent one is definitely winning the state championship. The best part about it was walking over and seeing my parents smile at me, it was a dream come true for everyone.

What has Coach Jones done to improve your football career?

The way he still believed in me and my skill set after starting the season 0-2.

What are your senior goals while at Aledo?

Build off of what we did this past season. We can’t allow ourselves to become complacent. We have to keep the underdog mindset from last season. For myself, I want to continue to perfect my game.

How do you succeed as a teammate?

I’m going to point out when someone isn’t giving their best effort… Also, you can’t have any trust in your teammates without love before anything. I’m going to show my love to my teammates so we can build a trust within each other.

Do you have a certain every gameday ritual?

I usually get a room alone to go through my game plan for the game. I’m going through progressions on certain plays so I can relax myself. At the end, I’ll get a quick prayer in.

What are future colleges getting out of you?

A fierce competitor that won’t take NO as an answer in life. I’m going to put the team and myself in the best position possible. They are getting a guy that really cares about the game.

How can you improve your game over the next year?

Coach Williams really wants us to air the ball out this year. I’m just going to get more comfortable in the offense. Do more film study for our opponents each week. That’s really where I’m going to improve this year.
