One of the best pass rushers in the state of Louisiana has committed to play in the 2023 Gridiron Football All-American Bowl Game. His name is Jalen Anderson and he plays for Slidell High School, which is located in Slidell, Louisiana. Nicknamed “Joker,” it is no laughing matter when opposing offensive tackles have to block the 6’2, 225 pound pass rusher. Anderson is explosive off the football with his 4.7/40 speed and has tremendous power to get by offensive tackles. This Slidell Tiger has been very productive throughout his career and has been one of the team’s best and most versatile players. Although he is most known for being a 1st Team All-District defensive end, Anderson also is a two way player for the defending district champions. Along with being a pass rusher, he also can play tight end, fullback, and even running back.
It is his versatility and strength that certainly separates himself from a lot of edge defenders his size. Slidell Head Coach Malter Scobel has stated that Anderson is one of the strongest players he has ever coached as he can bench press 325 pounds, squat 535 pounds, and can power clean 325 pounds.
Right now, Anderson has not received any official offers just yet, but he has drawn interest from big in-state schools such as UL and Southeastern. He will look to add some more schools to the list and have a big showing in the process when he plays in the 2023 Gridiron Football All-American Bowl Game that will be taking place in Baton Rouge, Louisiana on December 30th.
“I mean for one, it’s an honor playing and being invited to the game. I can definitely see my growth as a player, and I plan on making the best of my opportunity!”Slidell High School DE Jalen Anderson
