Episcopal High School’s tackling machine Chase Cresson has committed to play in the 2024 Gridiron Football All-American Bowl Game.

The 6’0, 210 pound All-State linebacker has led the Knights in tackles the past three years and ends his prep career with another big time season. After having over 100 tackles as a junior, Cresson ended his senior season as the District Defensive MVP with 106 tackles, five tackles for loss, an interception, and a fumble recovery through ten games. With 400 tackles in 46 games, Cresson is the heart beat of the Knights defense that was one of the most productive in the state this season.

Part of four straight Quarterfinal teams as a four year starter, Chase carried on the linebacker tradition as he started alongside his older brother David, who was also a four year starter at linebacker and is now playing at Nicholls State. Being highly praised by his coaches and peers, Cresson wore the number 8 jersey that was originally worn by Episcopal legend Jimmy Williams, who passed away in 2022 after a battle with cancer. Cresson was chosen to wear his former defensive coordinator’s jersey as it goes to the player who best exemplifies Jimmy’s characteristics on and off the field.

The three time 1st Team All-District selection is an all-around great student athlete with a 3.7 GPA and a 29 on his ACT. Along with being a standout on the gridiron, he is a talented baseball player as an All-District pitcher and utility player for the Knights.

Chase Cresson will like to join his brother David when it comes to continuing his playing days at the next level. Currently, he has received offers from Southeastern Louisiana University and Morehead State University. He will have another chance to impress more college coaches at the upcoming 2024 Gridiron Football All-American Bowl Game, which will be played on Monday, December 30th at Memorial Stadium in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

“I am very honored and excited to play in the bowl game. My goal for playing in the game is to show the coaches and everyone there that I can compete and win against the best around, but also to have fun, meet some new guys from around the state, and to just enjoy the experience.”
