One of the best and most dynamic receivers in CenLa has committed to play in the 2024 Gridiron Football All-American Bowl Game, and that is Darius Washington from Alexandria Senior High School.
Washington may only be 5’6, 140 pounds, but what he brings to the table is electrifying speed as he has the ability to take a play to the house any given time. The Trojans’ dynamic receiver has been a key reason for Alexandria’s undefeated district championship run with several great performances including a five catch, 111 yard, 3 TD game against Ouachita, a 12 catch, 142 yard game against Union Parish, and a three touchdown game against Destrehan. In all, Washington has scored 14 touchdowns this season.
However, his senior year has not been the only year in which Washington has been a featured piece for the Trojans’ offense, which includes LSU running back commit JT Lindsey. Over his prep career, he has been named 1st Team All-District as a punt returner, 2nd Team All-District as a wide receiver, 1st Team All-CenLa at wide receiver, and 1st Team All-CenLa at punt returner.
With a 3.3 GPA in the classroom and blazing 4.5/40 speed on the field, he has received offers from Centenary College, Louisiana Christian, Graceland University to play football after his senior year is completed.
Darius Washington hopes to lead the #2 seed ASH Trojans to a deep run and even perhaps a Division I (Select) State Championship, but regardless, he will have one more opportunity after the season to showcase his talents at the 2024 Gridiron Football All-American Bowl Game, which will be played at Memorial Stadium in Baton Rouge, Louisiana on Monday, December 30th.
“I’m honored and blessed to be playing in the bowl game. I am grateful to have the opportunity to put those pads on as a high school athlete one last time. I am looking forward to playing with other great athletes around the state as well as showcasing my talents and skillset to any college scout, who may be in attendance.”
