Corey Raymond hits the jackpot as the LSU Tigers get a much needed commitment from Zephyrhills High School five star cornerback DJ Pickett, who chose the Tigers over the likes of Oregon and Miami.
Landing the Florida native is a major pickup for the Tigers as Pickett is ranked as the top defensive player in the 2025 class as well as the number three overall player in the class.
The 6’4, 180 pound two way star for Zephyrhills has impressive bloodlines as he is the nephew of former Ohio State nose tackle Ryan Pickett, who won a Super Bowl with the Green Bay Packers. Last fall, the top five overall recruit in the country recorded 52 catches for 1,023 yards and 15 touchdowns as a receiver along with 31 tackles and an interception on defense.
The talented playmaker credited his relationship with Corey Raymond, who is an architect of what made LSU DBU, as the main reason for his commitment.
“I mean, if you’re a DB and Coach Raymond’s at LSU, I feel like that’s the right place to be at.”
Zephyrhills 5 Star CB and LSU commit DJ Pickett
This is the highest recruited defensive back LSU has gotten committed since Derek Stingley Jr. back in 2019. Joining already the number one overall player in the country in Bryce Underwood and the number one running back in the country in Harlem Berry, the Tigers are climbing up the ranks as a top five overall class.
After already gaining a commitment this weekend from Destrehan four star safety Jhase Thomas and with Westgate four star cornerback Jaboree Antoine about to announce his commitment, the Tigers are making some noise on the defensive side of the football in recruiting.
