Xavier Simmons is a class of 2022 linebacker from Northwest Guilford High School in Greensboro, North Carolina. Xavier is 6’3 and weighs around 225 pounds with a bench press of 265. Simmons is long, athletic, and quick off of the edge. He also has great cover skills and is known for his run defense. Xavier is currently ranked a four-star athlete but with the way he has played this year it is bound to go up. Lastly Simmons does whatever it takes in the classroom to keep his 3.0 GPA. Xavier is named to the Gridiron Football Top 300 list.

What things are you looking for most in a football program? The things I am looking for most in a program are a good campus life good academics good system and relationship with coaches

What motivated you to get into playing this sport? Watching the NFL and college at a young age motivated me to want to play. I wanted to be there one day.

What does football mean to you? I love football. Always watching and studying the game. It means a lot to me.

What’s your favorite thing about your position? My favorite thing about playing linebacker is creating chaos on the field for the opponent.

What would you say are your main strengths on the field? My main strengths are my athleticism, instincts and ability to blitz.

Three words to describe yourself. 3 words that describe me are loyal, humble and competitive.

How do you balance your schoolwork and football? School is always first. I make sure I get my homework done before practice.

Do you have a favorite NFL or College Athlete? My favorite current athlete is Lamar Jackson. I’m a big raven’s fan.

What would you like to major in? I would like to Major in business.

What’s been the highlight of your football career? Highlight of my football career was playing varsity Freshman year.

What type of things do you do in your offseason to keep yourself in shape? I lift a lot in the offseason. I also play basketball and track to stay busy

What has football taught you about yourself or life? Football has taught me how to deal with adversity and to never give up.

What would you bring to a college team? I would bring to a college team a playmaker who can do many different things on the field. Also be a great teammate.

What would you say are some of your strengths? My strengths are my speed athleticism and Strength.

How do you prepare for an upcoming game? I watch a lot of film on the opponent. Also ask many questions in practice to make sure I limit the number of errors and mistakes in the game.

How did you even get into football? Is there anything specific that motivated you to keep playing? Just playing the game at recess back in elementary school to be honest. I found it so fun and pretty much begged my parents to sign me up for youth football and it pretty much took off from there. Also watching NFL and college made me want to play.

How would your coaches and teammates describe you? My teammates and coaches would describe me as a fun guy to be around and a guy you can trust on the field.
