For the second time this offseason and the last time in the Baton Rouge area this spring, Gridiron Football puts on a camp at Lamar Dixon Expo Center.
After 100 players took part in the first camp of the year at Lamar Dixon Expo Center, 50 more players decided to take be a part of the action this past weekend during spring break at the same location.
It was the hottest camp of the offseason to this point, but the weather was not the only thing that was blazing. The competition and action definitely heated up as well, but before everybody can go out and have some fun, Gridiron Football CEO Andy Bryson gave a speech to the players about what it takes to play at the college level. The players then got a talk from former Gridiron Football All-American DJ Jenkins, who gave the campers advice on how they should approach camps. Jenkins was a Gridiron Football camp standout that earned an invite to play in last year’s All-American Bowl Game where he earned a MVP award. Now, he is going to play college football at Rice starting this upcoming fall.
We also have another great fundraiser going as you can win two tickets to a cruise of your choice. It is a $25 per ticket or 5 tickets for $100. The winner will be announced on July 25th so click the image below to buy your tickets and increase your odds today! All of the money will be going to Gridiron Football’s All-American Events including exposure camps and the All-American Bowl Game.
All of the players got to get their times and measurables for the 40, shuttle, and broad jump.
Leading the 40 was St. Charles Catholic 2027 CB James Tyson, who ran the second quickest 40 yard dash of the series with a 4.45. Three more players got in the 4.6’s and those players were and Prairieville 2026 CB Braylon Williams (4.6), St. Amant 2026 DB MJ Dunn (4.62), and St. John 2027 WR Ahmad Wilson (4.65).
Tyson was a combine star as he not only paced everyone in the 40, but he also did so at the shuttle (4.12) and the broad jump (10’7). Although Tyson stole the show at the beginning of the camp, there were other impressive times during the combine.
Also, five players ran in the 4.4’s at the shuttle including Prairieville 2027 LB Stantyn Delapasse (4.41), Liberty 2026 LB/DE Keith Joseph (4.43), Zachary 2026 LB Dylan Shelmire (4.44), Archbishop Hannan 2027 WR/S Paul Hoyt (4.47), and Prairieville 2028 CB Evan Williams (4.49).
For the broad jump, Dylan Shelmire (10’2) and Woodlawn 2026 DB Cayden Randall (10′) both jumped over 10 feet
After the combine, all the players went to their position coaches and learned some new drills and techniques to help them with their positions.
It was then time for the players to compete against each other as the skill players went against each other during 1v1s and 7v7s while the linemen went against each other during 1v1s.
During 1v1s, Zachary 2026 LB Dylan Shelmire started off by showing his elite coverage skills as a linebacker covering a receiver in open space and creating a PBU. Woodlawn 2026 WR Aprilleo Sterling had a nice back shoulder catch against good coverage from James Tyson. Defensively, Prairieville 2027 LB Stantyn Delapasse made a good break on the football and made an interception. Woodlawn 2026 DB Cayden Randall showed what he can do on offense by high pointing the football and making an incredibly tough catch over good coverage. Archbishop Hannan 2027 WR Paul Hoyt and St. Michael 2026 WR Johnny McCarty both scorched a defensive back and caught a wide open pass in stride for scores. Finally, Prairieville 2027 DB Evan Williams and Live Oak 2026 WR Dallas Mattingly both ran beautiful routes to get separation from other defensive backs for big catches during the 1v1 session.
During 7v7, Prairieville 2027 QB Charles Green showed good poise early on the first drive by hitting Mattingly and Randall for completions, but Sulphur 2027 LB Wesley Bushnell was able to get an interception over in the flat for the defense. The defense got the better of the offense for most of the session including another interception by Phillis Wheatley 2030 WR/DB Bryson Houser in the end zone. However, the offense finally put it all together at the end as Green completed a touchdown pass to St. Michael 2026 WR Johnny McCarty who somehow kept his focus on the football while turning around and falling in the back of the end zone.
The big linemen got the chance to show off as well. The offensive linemen were pretty impressive and created a huge challenge for any opposing linemen. Archbishop Hannan 2028 OL Maxwell Hand, South Lafourche 2026 OL Sawyer Wells, Walker 2028 OL Rowdy Armstrong, John Curtis 2028 OL Eric Campbell III showed a lot of promise while Zachary 2027 DL Calvin Duncan, Walker 2027 DE Nathan Ray, and Silliman 2026 RB/DE Isaac Garba created some good competition for the offensive linemen.
The camp ended with a fan favorite and that is the tire pull. It was all in good fun as not only linemen went against each other, but skill guys went against each other as well.
At the end of the camp, Gridiron Football lead beat writer Jace LeJeune and Chief Operations Officer Marcus Randall concluded the camp with some awards and hardware.
A record 10 Class of 2026 prospects were invited to play in the 2025 Gridiron Football All-American Bowl Game including St. Michael WR Johnny McCarty, South Lafourche OL Sawyer Wells, Liberty DE/LB Keith Joseph, Zachary LB Dylan Shelmire, Live Oak WR Dallas Mattingly, Woodlawn WR Aprilleo Sterling, Madison Prep LB Cannon Walker, St. Amant DB MJ Dunn, Prairieville LB Eric Williams, and Elton TE Jaylin Thomas.
Also invited to play in the bowl game was Prairieville CB Braylon Williams and Silliman RB/DE Isaac Garba, who were top performers, but not in the interview.
Besides the bowl game offers, there were even more awards being handed out as Phillis Wheatley 2030 WR/DB Bryson Houser was invited to play in the 2025 Gridiron Football Junior High All-American Bowl Game and five more underclassmen earned Elite Camp Top Performers. Those top performers were Sulphur 2027 LB Wesley Bushnell, St. Charles Catholic 2027 CB James Tyson, Walker 2028 OL Rowdy Armstrong, Zachary 2027 DL Calvin Duncan, and Prairieville 2027 LB/S Cade Hebert.
Gridiron Football once again put another successful camp in the books, but there was especially a lot of support and help to make this happen from the coaches to all of the camp’s sponsors.
Gridiron wants to thank Arnold Kairdolf for providing the water at the camp. Arnold’s LivingWater flushes fat, waste, and toxin from the cell making it much healthier than regular water. It also helps athletes perform at a higher level while not getting cramps. None of the players at the camp had any cramps and that is thanks to Arnold Kairdolf and his water.

Bemer is also another great supporter of Gridiron Football as they provided chairs for coaches and players throughout the camp. BEMER stimulates healthy muscles to improve and facilitate muscle performance. For more information, visit their website at www.bemergroup.com!

Danielle Gueho with Pelican State Credit Union came and stopped by to talk to the players about the importance of maintaining your finances. For more information, you can visit them at https://www.pelicanstatecu.com/.

Finally, we want to thank Tomara’s Cleans, Regional Generator Services, and Angie’s Maids for sponsoring the camp. You can watch these interviews below to learn more about these great businesses that support Gridiron Football’s mission!
